My passion for photography dates back to high school when I used to borrow the little family DSLR to document my trips out and about. Since then I've been able to turn my passion into a paid job which is something I'd always wanted. I love being able to shoot anything and everything. This makes me so motivated as not every shoot I attend is the same. But one niche I really enjoy working in is weddings! I get a massive buzz when I rock up to a wedding with my equipment. It's one of the most exciting days for the couple and for me! Here is 3 reasons why shooting weddings is something I adore.
Being able to create an amazing photographer/client relationship in a short space of time!
When you're hiring a photographer for your big day you are putting a massive amount of trust in them to produce great material that documents your day and provides you with the memories to last a life time. Organising weddings is a busy time for most and there are plenty of things to be done. When I'm booked, I only tend to meet my clients twice before the wedding day. This gives me a limited amount of time to get to know them. It's something that I love as meeting new people is one of my favourite aspects of my job. I'm always looking to create an instant connection with the couple to make them feel at ease and to build a rapport. I want them to know they can trust me and not have to worry!
2. Being surrounded by happy people!
It sounds simple but who really wants to go to work feeling unhappy?! If there is something I've learned through my early working life it's that when I'm happy I am producing my best work. Everything flows when there's a great atmosphere and I tend to get lost in the moments and sometimes forget that I'm even working!
It's even better when day turns to night. The evening shenanigans kick off and the guests are busting their best moves once they've warmed up with a few drinks. I like to blend in with the guests so don't be surprised to see me on the dance floor!
3. Capturing those small moments.
Whenever I'm asked to photograph a wedding, clients are looking for the candid shots capturing the naturality of the day with out people knowing I'm there. This is something I enjoy as it allows me to get extremely creative. There are many of these moments during the day, but there is a minute amount of time to capture them. It keeps me focused and always on the look out for great compositions.
There are so many more reasons as to why I love to shoot weddings but I couldn't fit them all in one blog post so I may have to revisit this!
Just want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support during tough times. I can't wait to see you all again, stay safe for now!
